India is a democratic country, Opposition always opposes whatever the ruling party does.Then,it doesn't matter if that step taken by the ruling govt is in the favour of the nation or against it.There has been many instances like nuclear deal,hiking fuel prices and much more.
Well, in this article, am going to talk about recent event of UP chief minister,Ms.Mayawati and her one of the unending issues of farmers' land acquisition. Now, she might have acquired the land for the development of the state but one should also think the other way around.The farmers have been at the loss as they have not been paid the required compensation.Mayawati says that she has paid adequate compensation of 300 crore for 450 hectares.But, farmers says that its not.Land has been forcibly been taken from them and paid inadequate money.The bigger issue for farmers is the inadequate compensation.And this land has been sold at exceptionally high prices to the builders who will continue to earn for long from the express highways which will be made out of this land acquisition.
keeping this matter a little aside, The opposition party, i.e the Congress is making full use of this event.Mr.Rahul Gandhi has participated in the protests by the farmers,trying his best to dismantle the ruling BSP in the state of UP for the upcoming assembly elections.And Ms.mayawati is no less.She got Mr.rahul ji under arrest for participating in protests (for violating the prohibitory orders enforced under section 144 of Cr.P.C ((Criminal Procedure Code)),altough he was released a few hours later.Actually, Mayawati's term of being uttar pradesh chief minister is coming to an end in 2012.And congress party is taking every possible way to bring disturbance in her state.
I wish someday these politicians can think beyond their own political benefits and can do something fruitfull for the common man of the nation.I personally think that Govt should take certain steps regarding land acquistion and compensation being paid for this to the farmers.Either the farmers should be paid higher compensation or they should be provided some alternate land elsewhere and reallocation facilities.Other option can be to provide some alternate employment to the farmers.As such snatching the land from farmers and paying them inadequate compensation ,those who don't have any other means to earn in near future is highly unjustified.
